Prep Baseball Report

Game Notes: (#3) Palo Verde at Durango

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

GN 4-30-2

+ Tanner Johns, 2025 OF/LHP (Oregon) - Coming off a massive Summer campaign where he spent time with USA Baseball, Johns keeps it rolling this Spring where he is hitting .495 with four homeruns on the year. The obvious added physical strength to go with his present athleticism has all come together during his junior season where his game has taken off, standing tall against some of the top arms in the state and doing so with authority. Johns will be an anchor for the Panthers playoff push this next few weeks in the heart of their lineup. The Oregon commit will be representing Nevada at the 2024 Prep Baseball ProCase - West this coming June at Pepperdine University.

+ Ethan Clauss, 2025 IF (Texas A&M) - The Prep Baseball All-American has had himself a year at the plate, adding another multi-hit game to his resume, hitting .443 on the year. Clauss has the physicality and athleticism to do it all at the next level with his power now coming through during his junior campaign to go along with his ability to drive the ball to all fields, using an advanced approach that always produces tough at-bats where he rarely goes out of the zone or chases pitches. Clauss is set to represent Nevada at the 2024 Prep Baseball ProCase - West this coming June in Malibu at Pepperdine University.

+ Connor Rosinski, 2024 C - The Las Vegas Preseason ID standout has answered the bell behind the plate with his opportunity coming at the midway point of the season and he will be another key contributor for the Panthers over the next few weeks. The Uncommitted senior his hitting .435 on the year and with a pair of homeruns and a 28 RBIs to go along with his multi-hit game yesterday. Rosinski has steadily flown under the radar through his HS career and his breakout senior year proves without a doubt that he could get it done at the next level.

+ Karsen Smaka, 2027 OF - The freshman seems to have settled in quickly to the varsity level this Spring and it was evident yesterday that he could be a difference maker this playoff season, holding down a corner OF spot and being able to turn the lineup over from the 9 spot. A standout at the 2024 Las Vegas Preseason ID, his power is already starting to shine through, homering yesterday, then shooting a single into left field to bring in a run. This will be a player that will be on a ton of radars over the next few years with his game seeming to only scratch the surface of what's to come.

+ RL Chandler, 2024 OF - The senior has been an anchor for the Panthers in CF this Spring, hitting .337 with his first homerun of the year coming in yesterday's matchup as he homered to rightfield to help extend the Palo Verde lead. Chandler has proven that he has what it take to play at the next level and we expect he will be given an opportunity here in the very near future.
