KS Diamond Notes: Week 6

Each week, KSHSAA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the PBR Kansas Player and Pitcher of the Week. While we can only pick one of each, there are always a number of other impressive performances that were in the mix for the award and deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable from the week six (April 22-28).

Jackson Barker RHP / 1B / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2027

Baker handed Olathe West their only loss of the year with five innings, one earned run, and six strike outs on the mound for the Raiders. Barker continues to prove his is one of the top young arms in the state with an elite ability to compete. 

Anthony Mazza C / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2024

The Hutchinson CC commit stays red hot for the Lancers, going  8-for-11 with eight RBI’s, a double, triple, and home run. He is in the running for KS player of the year with a slash line of .727 AVG, .750 OBP, and 1.455 SL

 

 

Gavin Blachowicz RHP / 3B / Olathe South, KS / 2024

Coming back from injury, Blachowicz pitched two innings allowing no hits, no runs, no walks while striking out five.

Sterling Lies SS / OF / Sedgwick, KS / 2024

 In four games, Lies collected six hits for .545 Avg including three  2B and 10 Runs.

 

Chris Aiello 1B / RHP / Blue Valley, KS / 2025

The right-handed hitter launched four singles and two home runs, going 6-for-13 for a .461 average on the week.

 

 

Isaac Braun RHP / 1B / Wamego, KS / 2026

In five innings, Braun gave Wamego a gutzy preformance striking out five and allowing three runs. 

 

 

Lucas Cross RHP / OF / Seaman, KS / 2025

Cross had another strong outting with four innings pitching and six K's, not allowing a run. 

 

 

Ethan Hampton OF / RHP / Olathe East, KS / 2025

Easily one of the most physical players in the state went 5-for-9 with two doubles, two triples, and a home run. 

 

 

Michael Winter RHP / 3B / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2025

Winter continues to get better and better this spring. Last week he tossed a complete game allowing no earned runs with four strikeouts and on walks. 

 

 

Jeff Nold, Segwick High School

Over four games, Nold hit .600 with nine hits, 12 RBI's, and two 2B's.
